The season’s first snowfall to hit Colorado
COLORADO SPRINGS — With a blizzard watch in effect for northeastern Colorado and other parts of the Front Range west to Vail through Tuesday afternoon snow has already begun falling at Lovel and Pass between Clear Creek and Summit counties.
At one point, even snow was spotted at Pikes Peak in the vicinity of Colorado Springs.
Snow was also observed on the summits at Arapahoe Basin ski area near Keystone and several other locations.

Thursday — Colorado got a sample taste of the fall season overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Thursday looks to be showery in the morning, and temperatures will top out only around 75 degrees for Denver.
Thursday’s snowstorm happened nearly weeks later than the typical first-snow date for Colorado. The first dusting is to be expected in the second part of August.
Last year, snow in winter 2021 arrived on Aug. 20; the first report was issued Tuesday this year for Colorado as a whole.
The first report of snow didn’t come until Sept 12 in 2019 The earliest snow seen in Colorado was Sept. 11, back in 2023
The first dustings in Colorado have normally been quick melts.
