In a body-camera video, one local officer informs other officers that he warned the US Secret Service earlier to lock down the building in which Abrams staged his attack (Donald Trump).
Another captures an officer being lifted onto a roof where he perhaps glimpses the attacker seconds before he fires into the Trump rally.
Thirty-one people were shot in the incident, including a bullet wound to Trump one dead and two more with serious injuries.
Both the body cam and dash-cam footage was released to US media outlets by the Butler Township Police Department on Thursday.
It captures the exasperation, confusion and bewilderment just before (and after) that assassination bid.
In another, a local officer said he asked the Secret Service to staff the building from which the gunman would open fire three days before.
According to one video the Wall Street Journal obtained, he said: “I told them they got some guys posting up over there and we need to post our big tall houses.
I said that to them on Tuesday.
He can be seen in the video snapping at his colleagues that he told the Secret Service to cordon off building.
The officer adds, “I talked to the Secret Service guys, they were like, ‘Yeah, no problem we’re going to post guys over here.’
The Secret Service counter-sniper team returned fire, killing Thomas Matthew Crooks (20), who fired eight bullets towards Trump from a rooftop outside the security perimeter of his rally.
The would-be assassin was above ground in what police have described as a “secondary ring,” one patrolled not by the Secret Service but instead of officers from local and state units.
Trump had been on stage speaking to the crowd when someone in the audience shouted “gun” and a commotion ensued before Secret Service agents removed him from the room.
Another video shows a Butler County police officer is lifted up onto the roof, where he sees Crooks.
When he sees the gunman is armed, though, he quickly drops into a crouch.
He then is observed running around to the other side of building and into his cop car grand theft auto-style for a rifle.
Crooks shoots Trump around 40 seconds after the officer first sees the gunman.
After entering the roof, they come across Crooks body.
Officer 1 then says: ‘I popped my head up there like a fucking idiot by myself, I kept yelling out to the top of that motherfucker we got an active shooter on the roof…
‘Were you on the same wave-length? ‘ He can be heard asking on the police radio.
A separate video reportedly shows one officer asking a colleague in confusion why there was nobody on the roof.
“I thought it was you! I thought you were on the roof! He then cursed in frustration and quizzed: “Why aren’t we on the roof?“
Three counter-snipers, provided by the Secret Service from one of its neighboring structures.
One of them had seen Crooks earlier in the day following reports among police on site that someone at the rally was acting suspiciously.
A Secret Service sniper snapped a photo of Crooks and then left his area to help others look for the shooter.
The videos have not all been seen by the BBC News. Several US news outlet reported their content.
In a statement on Thursday, Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the agency was working to identify video footage related to the incident.
“Our local law enforcement partners, who bravely worked to locate the shooter that day have our thanks their bravery and actions made securing a speedy arrest possible,” he said.
The attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was the result of a US Secret Service failure and our policy regarding protection is being reviewed, updated to ensure this never happens again.
A bipartisan House panel of 13 lawmakers, as well as the FBI, The Justice Department and several Congressional committees are investigating.
