There are now 2,781 billionaires in the world, a grand-total of 141 more than at this time last year and 26 above its previous high-point achieved behind curtains during all-time blockbuster decades.
That makes them even richer than ever before, holding $14.2 trillion in aggregate wealth.
Sixty-six of them are richer than a year ago, only 24 poorer. Most of the increases are accounted for by the top 20, who increased their wealth to $700 billion since 2023 and from U.S. billionaires in general; there are now a record high number of Americans with nine or more zeros at over eight hundred ($5.7 trillion).
China (Richest People) is second with 473 (including Hong Kong) at $1.7 trillion, weakened by anemic consumer spending and a real estate bust that erased some $300 billion from wealth levels.
